Winter Season Launch: 19 January 2017

Key Works Unlocked: Peel and Suzor-Coté highlights two paintings in the Agnes collection: Paul Peel’s While Baby Sleeps and Marc-Aurèle de Foy Suzor-Coté’s Wet Snow, Arthabaska. Peel and Suzor-Coté were among the first Canadian artists to study abroad. While Peel became a master of Academic painting, Suzor-Coté applied an Impressionist palette to the surrounding countryside of his Quebec hometown. This exhibition also delves into the mysteries of art-world authorship and authenticity, drawing upon research by graduate students in the Art Conservation Program at Queen’s University.
